Cover Reveal: ENTICE by Jessica Shirvington

As cover junkies, we adore cover reveals! Available Sept 18, here's the first look at ENTICE by Jessica Shirvington!

Description: T:\Fall 2012\Entice\9781402268434-300.jpg

Sourcebook Fire said:
“For Entice, we really wanted to have the cover reflect the darker edge of the story and Violet’s toughness.”

They did a great job - ready to kick some butt!
Seventeen-year-old Violet Eden’s is back! With a destiny is to protect humans from the vengeance of exiled angels it becomes clear that it won’t be easy as even her partner, Lincoln, is hiding something. And now she has to learn to live with her feelings for him while they work together to stay alive and stop the exiles from discovering the key to destroy all Grigori. It isn’t easy. Especially when the electricity between her and Phoenix ignites and she discovers his hold over her has become more dangerous than ever. Violet's power will be pushed to the extreme with a race halfway across the world to find the one artifact that could tilt the balance of power between Angels and Exiles. And the ultimate betrayal will be exposed.
 A quick excerpt:
“Two tutors and three students from the Grigori training center in New York were arriving in two days and I couldn’t be happier. I was going to be able to learn from the experts and have people my own age to train with, something I really needed. I was sure with their help I would be able to get over whatever it was that had been holding me back.
Griffin had been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the two senior Grigori –the intelligence, resources and backup they could provide was much needed. The Scripture that can decipher the identity of all Grigori, even those who have not yet embraced and are therefore defenseless, was at stake.
I would not stand by and watch it fall into the hands of exiles. If they found they key to destroying all Grigori and gained the upper hand, the slaughter would not stop until all the humans knelt before them, worshipping them as gods.”

THE HOST by Stephanie Meyer Giveaway 5 Copies!

We loved THE HOST by Stephenie Meyer. Even better than Twilight! The movie arrives Mar 29, 2013 so less than a year to wait. But still too long, of course.

Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact and continue their lives apparently unchanged. Most of humanity has succumbed.
When Melanie, one of the few remaining "wild" humans, is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too-vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.
Wanderer probes Melanie's thoughts, hoping to discover the whereabouts of the remaining human resistance. Instead, Melanie fills Wanderer's mind with visions of the man Melanie loves - Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she has been tasked with exposing. When outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off on a dangerous and uncertain search for the man they both love.

Blog Tour: Angie Smibert - THE FORGETTING CURVE + Giveaway

Please welcome Angie Smibert, author of THE FORGETTING CURVE. She's visiting as part of her blog tour for a snappy Author This or That. Here's the scoop!

          1. Unicorns. Are they adorable or deadly? And before you jump on adorable, maybe you should flip on Supernatural or Cabin in the Woods to better weigh your options.
~ Deadly. Anything with a huge spiky thing on its head didn't evolve to be cute.

          2. Writing a novel by hand or typing out a novel?
~ Both. I start out writing on legal pads and then the second draft happens as I type it into the computer. What's on the paper is seldom exactly what ends up on the screen.

          3. Which universe is better: Marvel or DC Comics? This is pretty much the only thing that can incite screaming matches around our dinner table. Yes, we are that awesome.
~ Marvel. Howard the Duck all the way. (Just kidding!) I've gotta go with the Avengers and X-men over Superman / Batman.  However, I'm actually more of a Dark Horse and Neil Gaiman / Sandman kind of girl.

          4. Would you rather be stuck in a dystopian world or a steampunk world?
~ Steampunk. a) more fun. b) more hope. c) cooler gadgets.

           5. Paris or Rome?
~ Rome. I've always had a thing for Roman history--and good Italian food.

          6. Would you rather live in the stuffy city or the countryside sipping tea with handsome men lean with muscle from working the ranch? Whoops, guess we know what Alyssa's vote is.
~ An unstuffy city with the lean, muscly men mowing my lawn.

           7. Harry Potter or Hunger Games?
~ Both. How can I choose?

           8. Are you a lover or a fighter? And be honest. One of my brothers claims to be a fighter, but gets teary watching The Sound of Music.
~ A lover, but that scene in Braveheart where the Scots first defeat the English gets me teary-eyed. (JK)

9. Hot zombie boyfriend or scaled merman boyfriend?
~ Zombie merman.

10. Home baked goods or ice cream?
~ Hello? Both.

Thanks Angie for taking the time to share such great answers. Especially Zombie Merman - brilliant!

Visit Angie on her website
And thanks to Teen Book Scene for hosting the tour!

We have two copies to giveaway and you can win points by telling us in the comments,

(More giveaway details and the form at the bottom of the post)

Aiden Nomura likes to open doors—especially using his skills as a hacker—to see what’s hidden inside. He believes everything is part of a greater system: the universe. The universe shows him the doors, and he keeps pulling until one cracks open. Aiden exposes the flaw, and the universe—or someone else—will fix it. It’s like a game.
Until it isn’t.
When a TFC opens in Bern, Switzerland, where Aiden is attending boarding school, he knows things are changing. Shortly after, bombs go off within quiet, safe Bern. Then Aiden learns that his cousin Winter, back in the States, has had a mental breakdown. He returns to the US immediately.
But when he arrives home in Hamilton, Winter’s mental state isn’t the only thing that’s different. The city is becoming even stricter, and an underground movement is growing.
Along with Winter’s friend, Velvet, Aiden slowly cracks open doors in this new world. But behind those doors are things Aiden doesn’t want to see—things about his society, his city, even his own family. And this time Aiden may be the only one who can fix things... before someone else gets hurt.

Elana Johnson - SURRENDER: A Game of Survivor + Giveaway!

SURRENDER (Possession 2)
Elana Johnson
June 2012
Forbidden love, intoxicating power, and the terror of control…
Raine has always been a good girl. She lives by the rules in Freedom. After all, they are her father’s rules: He’s the Director. It’s because of him that Raine is willing to use her talent—a power so dangerous, no one else is allowed to know about it. Not even her roommate, Vi.
All of that changes when Raine falls for Gunner. Raine’s got every reason in the world to stay away from Gunn, but she just can’t. Especially when she discovers his connection to Vi’s boyfriend, Zenn. Raine has never known anyone as heavily brainwashed as Vi. Raine’s father expects her to spy on Vi and report back to him. But Raine is beginning to wonder what Vi knows that her father is so anxious to keep hidden, and what might happen if she helps Vi remember it. She’s even starting to suspect Vi’s secrets might involve Freedom’s newest prisoner, the rebel Jag Barque....
Reality TV lovers rejoice! The ever-awesome Elana Johnson, author of POSSESSION and its sequel, SURRENDER (June 5), is stopping by today on her tour to offer up a bit of Literary Survivor. Enjoy!

by Elana Johnson

Okay, so today we’re going to be playing a little SURRENDER Survivor. I watch a lot of reality TV, and it’s always hard to be the first one voted off the island.

Today, I’m going to highlight three of the lesser known—or lesser liked—characters in POSSESSION/SURRENDER, and I want you to vote for the one you think would prevail in a survival battle to the death. (Okay, maybe not the death, but you know what I mean.)

Thane Myers: This is the Director father of Violet Schoenfeld. We see him in even more depth in SURRENDER as the Assistant Director of Freedom, and the Director of Technology for the city.

He’s sort of a mystery for Gunner, as Thane wears a thick gold ring—and jewelry is against protocol.

But Thane has shown that he’ll do what it takes to satisfy the higher-ups in the Association. He did brainwash his daughter and force her to Freedom…

Indiarina Blightingdale: Indy is the leader of the Resistance after Jag leaves the Badlands, before POSSESSION even opens. She’s served as his second for a while, and when he goes missing, she steps up. We get to read more about her in REGRET, and surprise, surprise, readers first meet her in POSSESSION (can you find her?)—and everyone will get to see her again in SURRENDER.

She doesn’t have any talents, but she has a fierce will and more than a few tricks up her sleeve, so don’t count her out just yet… She is the leader of the Union-wide Resistance after all.

Starr Messenger: Starr is one of the most talented mind powers in the Association—but she doesn’t want to brainwash others. She’s Indy’s contact inside Freedom, and you’ll get to meet her in REGRET and really get the low-down on Starr in SURRENDER. She’s matched to Gunner, and he describes her like this:
Starr hung with the tech-science geeks, even though she clearly possessed some high-class mind control. Her goal was a job in the Evolutionary Rise, and I had no doubt she’d run the place one day. No one has eyes as sharp as Starr. She’d spotted my near-obsessive crush on Raine after a single genetics class period. She sent me an e-comm, commenting that I might want to “take the staring down a notch.”
Starr held natural beauty in the bones of her face, and her hair fell in waves as dark as the night. Her eyes blazed with power, almost violet instead of blue.

Your call, but Starr probably already knows what you’re going to do. Just sayin’.

So based on this limited information—and what you’ve read in POSSESSION and REGRET (you have read POSSESSION and REGRET, right?)—who do you think would be first voted off the SURRENDER Survivor? Thane, Indy, or Starr? Who do you think would win it all?

Leave it to the incredibly clever Elana to come up with a Reality TV tie in. The choices are tough! Can't wait to see who you pick! Thanks Elana for allowing us to be part of this fantastic tour!
