Katy Teare's Guest Review of DEMONS AT DEADNIGHT by A&E Kirk + Giveaway!

Demons at Deadnight Blog Tour Banner with Hex Boys

Today for the DEMONS AT DEADNIGHT blog tour we have a special guest, Katy Teare, a high school junior who doesn't have a blog but read the book and wanted to do a review.  Of course we said yes!

For those who love witty, humorous, and fast-moving novels, Demons at Deadnight is a must read.

Aurora Lahey is definitely a character that kept me frantically turning pages to see what happens next, as she juggles her life between dastardly demons and the Hex Boys. She is a major asset to the story because of her realistic way of handling extreme situations which allowed me to feel like I really understood the character.

I liked Aurora's spunkiness, she cracked me up - I literally laughed out loud many times. But I also enjoyed that Aurora wasn't perfect. She screwed up, often coming to the wrong conclusions about situations, especially about the Hex Boys. She's a lousy detective.

At first, along with Aurora, I didn't know whether the Hex Boys were good guys or bad. They were secretive and even rude at times, and dangerous. It was fun going on the journey with Aurora to find out about them, and then...

I LOVED the Hex Boys! They were all so different and fun...and HOT! Every one had fantastic personalities. At first I was Team Ayden - that first kiss is to DIE FOR! - but honestly, he's so smooth, I don't think I could handle it! I really liked Tristan's sweet nature. And Blake! He's such a blast! So I'm kind of torn between those two.

But they're all so unique and interesting. Jayden with his dry genius, Logan being super adorable - but deadly when he has to be - and then there's Matthias. I just know there is so much going on with the Aussie. So as much as I hated him in the beginning - as much as he and Aurora hate each other - he's totally captured my attention and I want to know more!

Along with Herman. He's not a Hex Boy but I find him intriguing because I'm not sure whether he's going to go psycho or help Aurora. And you gotta love Gloria. What secrets does she have and why does she wear such crazy outfits?

Also, if you're looking for family in your YA, you won't be disappointed. Aurora's parents and siblings are so real - funny, annoying, embarrassing, but above all, loving!

The character development is steady throughout, giving me little tidbits along the way which made me yearn for more background information. On all the characters but especially the Hex Boys (and specifically Matthias) which I hope to get in upcoming books.

Which is why I can't wait for the sequel - I want more Hex Boy hotness! And who's the new guy that shows up at the end? Is he friend of foe? I have so many questions.

Ladies of all ages will rave for the detailed and very exquisite description of the Hex Boys and their lively, spirited, and suave personalities. It's the thrilling action, fast pace and characters you'll wish you could hang out with in real life that make readers crave DEMONS AT DEADNIGHT

Oh, and I almost forgot the most important question of all...
Why aren't the Hex Boys at my high school right now!

Today's secret word is...

by A&E Kirk
For seventeen-year-old Aurora Lahey, survival is a lifestyle.
DEMONIC DESTINY. Aurora has the crappiest superpower on the planet. And it’s just unleashed a hit squad from hell. Demons are on the hunt, salivating to carve her carcass into confetti.
CHARISMATIC KILLERS. The Hex Boys—mysterious, hunky, and notorious for their trails of destruction—have the answers Aurora needs to survive. But their overload of deadly secrets and suspicious motives makes trusting them a potentially fatal move.
LETHAL ALLIES. The battle to save her family, herself, and stop demonic domination may cost Aurora everything worth living for, and force her to reveal her own dark secrets. But no worries. She needs the Hex Boys to pull this off, and, chances are, teaming up with these guys will get her killed anyway.

Available in ebook for only $.99 (for a limited time in honor of Alyssa's birthday!) at AmazonBarnes and Noble, and Smashwords, and $10.99 for the paperback at Amazon. And check it out on Goodreads.

You're right about ladies of all ages being able to fall for the Hex Boys. As a 30something tween at heart, I love those guys. And good point about Herman. He is interesting, and I really hope he turns out to be a friend instead of a foe.

I adored Gloria, too. I think she made me laugh more than any other character. Thanks for the review, Katy.

Great review, Katy! Aurora's detective skills made me laugh too, and why did I never meet someone like the Hex Boys in high school?

How about a story about the Hex Men?? That's one I think those of us that are worried about their age would love to read, maybe a little side story??

This was a great review. I swear there weren't six guys in my whole high school of 3000 that looked like those six Hex boys. I know they didn't have those powers. I had a boyfriend I know was a demon and no one did anything about him! Where were those Hex boys?
