Waiting on Wednesday: 3 Hot Upcoming YA Releases (2/29/12)

WoW is hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine and showcases upcoming releases we're dying to read!

REBEL HEART (Dust Lands 2)
Moira Young
Oct 2012
The Tonton have been defeated. Lugh has been rescued.

The heartstone has brought Saba and Jack together.

Now, Saba and her family head west to meet him and start a new life. All should be well.
But shadows of the dead are stalking Saba.
And another kind of shadow is creeping over the dustlands.
Then a messenger shows up.
With news of Jack.
Looking forward to this Blood Red Road sequel! On a side note, the cover is stirring a little "dust." Sorry couldn't help it. Some think it's too different from the first hardcover (although it matches the paperback). Also, it says "Better than the Hunger Games" on the front (which is also on the BRR paperback) and that's considered unprofessional and tacky. And, finally, there seems to be a stick coming out of the guy's butt. Any comments?

There’s none so blind as they that won’t see.
Seventeen-year-old Tricia Farni’s body floated to the surface of Alaska’s Birch River six months after the night she disappeared.
The night Roz Hart had a fight with her.
The night Roz can’t remember.
Roz, who struggles with macular degeneration, is used to assembling fragments to make sense of the world around her. But this time it’s her memory that needs piecing together—to clear her name . . . to find a murderer.
Intrigued by the premise and the chance of a good murder/mystery!

Emma and her friend Chloe are spending vacation in Florida. When Emma (literally) runs into a hot guy named Galen on the beach, little does she know he’s a prince of the Syrena. Galen and Emma both feel something strange – is it attraction? – and Galen suspects that Emma might well be the girl he’s heard of – a human who can communicate with fish.
What follows is a deadly scene with a shark in which Galen witnesses Emma’s gifts. He must know more about her, and follows her back to New Jersey, and high school, to find out for sure if she’s the key to saving his kingdom. Soon, Emma can’t deny her feelings for him, but can’t explain them, either – and both she and Galen must learn more about where she comes from and what her powers are before they can trust one another and their feelings.
So he's a mermaid merman? We'll have to read to find out.

What are you waiting for?

I love the cover for Dust Lands!!! Like really, really love it. Why couldn't they do something like that for Insurgent?
Of Poseidon sounds great too. :)

Claiming that it's "Better than Hunger Games" does sound tacky. And the stick, lmfao. Nevertheless, it's the cover that actually made me consider reading the series. :)

Here's my WoW. ♥

I liked the original BRR cover, so I was pretty sad when they went in a new direction. And I agree about the "Better than Hunger Games" thing.

Ha! That stick is placed somewhat awkwardly in the photo ;)

Fabulous choices!

I haven't read Blood Red Road but I do like the new covers for the books. Lol I don't see many merman in books.

Yes, I do think it is tacky to say "Better than THG" and it almost makes me not want to read it because that could immediately set you up for disappointment. I hadn't noticed that stick before, haha!

I'm looking forward to Blind Spot - it sounds very intriguing and that cover is very eye catching ;)

Bahahahaha the stick coming out the guys butt. Oh my gosh I'm laughing so hard at that comment right now. SO FUNNY!!!! XD I think it's tacky to put the whole "better than The Hunger Games" on it too but oh well. I'll still be reading the sequel despite the stick butt cover. >.<

I want to try Blood Red Road too!
HA it does look like a stick up his butt. LOL

Why on earth does that remind of of Zoolander. All I'm going to picture is Ben Stiller coughing and saying "merman, merman!!" LMAO! Oh the things that entertain me! Ooooo, I love the cover of Blind Spot.

And, I do think it's tacky to say "better than the Hunger Games". Even if it is better, there wasn't any other quote?

P.S. Are the boys ready to party tonight?? *wink*

I so want to read that sequel to Dustlands. I agree the tag is tacky in the new cover. And what is it with the stick? Aludes to Jack? I don't remember him being described like that. *snicker*

I have Of Poseidon. I can't wait to start it!

I've got Of Poseidon and can't wait to read that. I've also got Blind Spot on my wishlist. As for Blood Red Road, I tried reading that but couldn't get into it. Lots of people seem to love it though so I'll probably try reading it again in the future since I've heard it does take time to get into.

I dislike the new cover for Blood Red Road, as well. Funny, I never noticed that oddly placed stick until you pointed it out. What on earth?

Okay, I have to agree he's got a stick coming out of his butt. Must not have looked that cover over too well. And it is tacky to say it's better than another book!

Don't like the eyeballs book. Yuck!

I'b dying for Of Poseidon! Lots of mermaid/mermen books out!!

I can't look at the cover of Blood Red Road and not chuckle now because of the stick but Of Poseidon has a gorgeous cover that makes you just want to pick it up and read.

Ha! I didn't even notice the stick coming out of the guys butt, I was too busy ogling his hot bod, I guess. But yeah, that quote is not cool.

I am silly but I always laugh when I hear the name Galen, since it means crazy in Swedish ;)
