THE HUNT
Andrew Fukuda
May 2012
Seventeen-year-old Gene struggles to survive in a society where humans have been eaten to near extinction by the general population. When Gene is chosen to participate in the government-sponsored hunt for the remaining humans, he must learn the art of the hunt but also elude his fellow hunters whose suspicions about his true human nature are growing.
Sounds interesting. Just not sure what creatures the society is made up of since they aren't humans. Hmmmm.
MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH
Bethany Griffin
April 2012
Other than the immediate set-up of a love triangle (which have become a bit annoying) it looks like an exciting dystopian! And pretty cover!Everything is in ruins.A devastating plague has decimated the population. And those who are left live in fear of catching it as the city crumbles to pieces around them.So what does Araby Worth have to live for?Nights in the Debauchery Club, beautiful dresses, glittery make-up . . . and tantalizing ways to forget it all.But in the depths of the club—in the depths of her own despair—Araby will find more than oblivion. She will find Will, the terribly handsome proprietor of the club. And Elliott, the wickedly smart aristocrat. Neither boy is what he seems. Both have secrets. Everyone does. And Araby may find something not just to live for, but to fight for—no matter what it costs her.
THE TEMPTATION
Alisa Valdes
April 2012
Immediately attracted to a dead guy? Shane needs to get out more often. But it still sounds fun and we'll have to read this to see how it all works out!His touch was electric. His eyes were magnetic. His lips were a temptation....But was he real? After crashing her car on an empty highway, Shane is miraculously saved by Travis, a mysterious cowboy who walks out of nowhere. She is instantly attracted to him, and for the first time, she believes in “soul mates.” But Shane soon discovers that Travis is dead and that strict rules from the Underworld govern kindred spirits of different dimensions. Breaking these rules could destroy both their souls. And while Travis is almost impossible to resist, temptation proves to be the kindest enemy they encounter. Can true love surpass the power of pure evil?
DARKNESS BEFORE DAWN
JA London
May 2012
The war is over. And the vampires won.Humans huddle in their walled cities, supplying blood in exchange for safety. But not even that is guaranteed. Dawn has lost her entire family and now reluctantly serves as the delegate to Lord Valentine, the most powerful vampire for miles. It isn’t until she meets Victor, Valentine’s son, that she realizes not all vampires are monsters....
A world run by vamps - nice twist! That cover is lovely. And is it just us or does it look similar to the FALLEN series. Like a combo of FALLEN and TORMENT.
MONUMENT 14
Emmy Laybourne
June 2012
Six high school kids (some popular, some not), two eighth graders (one a tech genius), and six little kids are trapped together in a chain superstore. Together they build a refuge for themselves inside, while outside, a series of escalating disasters, beginning with a monster hailstorm and ending with a chemical weapon spill, seems to be tearing the world—as they know it—apart
Stuck in Costco? Sounds like heaven!
What are you waiting for?

These are some great selections. I'll have to add them to my TBR list.
This is a big list of some really great sounding reads. Thanks for sharing!

O I like the sound of Monument 14!
Very Lord of the Ringish.
Great choices. I really am curious about the Masque of the Red Death!
I dig the cover for Masque of Red Death!
However Monument 14 sounds the most intriguing!
I have all of these on my list too! I'm especially excited for The Masque of the Red Death and Darkness Before Dawn, can't wait for both of those:) I'm hoping maybe the love triangle in Masque will be one of those well done ones like in Unearthly/Hallowed instead of one of the frustrating ones. *crosses fingers*
Hunting of humans? That reminds me of the short story "The Most Dangerous Game." It creeped me out when I first read it in middle school! Lol.
I think almost all of these are on my wishlist! Masque of the Red Death is high up there!!
Our WoW is at Book Sake. -Jessica
I want to read them all, but mainly because of your commentary below-Shane needs to get out more LOL!! I don't know if I want to be stuck in Costco or anywhere else with six little kids. Where did the parents go? Did all the adults die?? Yikes!
And yes, that does look like a book from the Fallen series. Probably the same illustrator.(Ya think?) I know I'm stating the obvious. But it seems like I'm seeing the same cover on several books more and more these days.
Anyway, GREAT picks and LOVED the commentary!

WOW! Great round-up. I am so excited for all of these, but especially Temptation and Darkness Before Dawn!
What a hot list!
I so agree, Darkness Before Dawn totally reminds of the Fallen books - which is why I might look want to read it so badly... the covers are just amazing!!!
"Immediately attracted to a dead guy? Shane needs to get out more often."
LOL! See, this is what I mean. Hilarious. :D
Every single one of those books is on my TBR too. I'm totally ready to get hunted down by beings that eat people, worry about plague in a Debauchery Club, fall for dead people, and reanimated dead people who eat people, and survive the apocalypse in a Costco. Yup, sounds like a plan.
I do like the sound of the vamp world book :)
Enjoy! your list.
I remember thinking Darkness Before Dawn was a Lauren Kate book at first...and then I read the author name, lol.
Monument 14 & The Hunt sound intriguing. Great picks! :)
Masque of the Red Death sounds amazing! I'm also eagerly holding my breath for Girl of Nightmares and Insurgent to come out later this year.
Happy reading!
Smiles!
