Character Interview: Alex from HALF-BLOOD by Jennifer L Armentrout

If you caught our review of HALF-BLOOD by Jennifer L Armentrout, you'll understand why it is one of our new favorites. So we're thrilled to have Alex, the awesome kick-butt heroine taking time out from her busy daimon hunting day to visit!

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1: Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden.
Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.
1. There are a lot of rules and prejudice regarding pure bloods and half bloods. If you had the power, how would you change things?
Alex sighs. "I don't think any one power would work. I'd have to be a god to change the laws surrounding us. And not any ordinary god, either. It would have to be one totally butt kicking god, with supreme power to make the pures change the way they've lived for centuries."

2. Describe your dream date with Aiden.
"Okay, this is going to sound really cheesy, but honestly, my dream date with Aiden would just be able to date him. That's it. That's all I need for it to be a dream. And it is just a dream. Because when we say pures and halfs don't mix it's no joke. The pures take that kind of stuff seriously."

3. Tell us about Seth, and do you see any kind of romantic future with him?
Alex bursts into laughter. "A romantic future with Seth? Are you serious? The only thing that we share in the future is our undying need to annoy the ever-loving crap out of one another. I can't even picture us in a relationship that doesn't end with one of us maiming the other." She laughs again. "Anyway, what can I say about Seth? Arrogant. Cocky. He's really good looking, but please gods, do not tell him I said that. His ego is already the size of a gods'. There are times, few and far between, when he can actually be nice. Sort of. And yeah, he is kind of funny."

4. You can choose to battle daimons or zombies, which do you pick and why?
"Zombies. Why you ask? Well, you shoot a zombie in the head and it's over and done with. Easy. Especially if its a slow moving zombie. A daimon isn't just going to stand there and let you shoot it. Gods know I have personal experience with that dumb assumption. Not to mention zombies really don't think, ya know? Daimons are always thinking of ways to kill you. Also, I'd rather fight zombies because according to Hollywood, in a zombie apocalypse, I'd still have awesome hair and makeup and I'd get to wear some cool clothing and shoes while doing some major butt kicking."

Thanks for stopping by Alex! Can't wait to see what happens in your next adventure, PURE  which arrives April 2012!

HALF-BLOOD is available Oct 18 and the prequel DAIMON is available now!

We couldn't get much out of Jennifer about what's happening in PURE but she did say that Seth would be a busy guy!

Alex lives--and loves--recklessly, until a single decision leads to a heartbreaking revelation. As a mysterious threat closes in and she confronts a Council that wants to see her in servitude, Alex must face a choice between love that is fated... and love that is forbidden.

For three years, Alexandria has lived among mortals—pretending to be like them and trying to forget the duty she'd been trained to fulfill as a child of a mortal and a demigod. At seventeen, she's pretty much accepted that she's a freak by mortal standards... and that she'll never be prepared for that duty.

According to her mother, that’s a good thing.

But as every descendant of the gods knows, Fate has a way of rearing her ugly head. A horrifying attack forces Alex to flee Miami and try to find her way back to the very place her mother had warned her she should never return—the Covenant. Every step that brings her closer to safety is one more step toward death… because she's being hunted by the very creatures she'd once trained to kill.

The daimons have found her.

Yay Alex! I loved this book so much:) And her answer about Aiden is so sweet and cute, I'm hoping somehow the laws of their world are able to be bent and they can have a lovely HEA at the end of it all. Probably wishful thinking, but that's what I'm sticking to:)

Awwwww Alex. I'm sorry to hear that your dream date with Aiden is just a dream. :(

It's so sad that you can't mix. Seriously, love is supposed to know no boundaries. Right?

*runs off to tell Seth how good looking you said he was*

LOL! J/K.

I haven't read the book yet so have no idea what a daimon is. They do sound really smart so it will probably be hard to take one down.

Oh, I like the sound of Seth. I have a soft spot for relationships where the characters start off being annoyed/hating each other and then end up falling in love. Only if they're well done though.

Awh, not being able to date because of not mixing pure and halfs. That would not make me a happy girl.
