Movie Review: THOR

The powerful but arrogant warrior Thor is cast out of the fantastic realm of Asgard and sent to live amongst humans on Earth, where he soon becomes one of their finest defenders.

The summer blockbuster season has officially begun!

Thor is a blast. Fun and exciting - a great adventure with terrific special effects. The fighting sequences are fantastic especially when Thor is using his hammer.

Secondary characters are thoroughly engaging. Loki as the Trickster and also Thor's brother who creates havoc. As Natalie Portman's assistant, Kat Dennings does a wonderful job. And you can't beat Sir Anthony Hopkins as anything but as Odin he's amazing. And a fun tidbit - Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye (in the upcoming Avengers movie) has a brief part.

And of course, there's Chris Hemsworth as the god of thunder. Goodness what a hunk. Let's just admit it, he's the real reason to go see Thor.

THOR is really, really good, but I wouldn't say great - except for the looking at Chris Hemsworth part - because for one, oddly enough, there isn't hot sexual chemistry between Portman and Hemsworth. I know, didn't make sense to me either. Hey, sitting in the theater, I certainly had great chemistry with him! And there is a lot of focus on what's going on with the secondary characters and not enough on Thor's storyline.

But all in all, for summer movie goers and especially Marvel fans - oh, any anyone who wants to see one of the most gorgeous creatures on the planet - it's a must see! And be sure to stay until after the credits to see a short clip from the upcoming AVENGERS movie!



And another fun fact: Chris is brother to Liam who plays Gale in THE HUNGER GAMES movie! They even practiced lines together when Liam was up for the part!
