We're having our annual Academy Awards Party Sunday - we print up ballots and everyone has to vote with the winner getting a prize - and thought we'd share come of our picks. As noted, we've seen everything but THE FIGHTER, but we're picking some of the actors for awards. Here goes:
Best Actor - Colin Firth: THE KING'S SPEECH
Best Actress - Natalie Portman: BLACK SWAN
Best Supporting Actor - Christian Bale: THE FIGHTER
Best Supporting Actress - Melissa Leo: THE FIGHTER
Best Director - Darren Aronofsky: BLACK SWAN
Best Picture - THE SOCIAL NETWORK - although we think BLACK SWAN should win.
FYI: We also loved INCEPTION and THE SOCIAL NETWORK.

I sure hope that The Social N wins, boring movie, I don't get why everyone loves it..so i am hoping for the King's S. Haven't seen it but loves Firth ;)
I'm ashamed to say that I've seen hardly any of the nominees this year! I've been trying to cut back on spending by waiting for movies to come out at the Palace, which is a local theater that shows movies for $3 a few weeks before they come out on DVD. I can't wait to see Black Swan! I've heard so many great (trippy, weird) things about it.
P.S. Alyssa, I totally understand your pain. Watching awkward scenes with little brothers is...well...awkward. I frequently end up going to the bathroom or getting popcorn. Lol!

The Kings Speech looks awesome and my brother thought Black Swan was good, but even he found it way to creepy, and he is normally good with creepy ass movies. I scare easily, so I doubt I would be brave enough to watch it, if I did I would be covering my ears and hiding under a blanket. Hell I was way scared Silent Hill although I loved it.

My bro said The Fighter was amazing, then again he's a dude so he would. :P I watched The Social Network, I was surprised by how much I loved it as my expectations were slightly low. However, my expectation of Inception because of the hype were very high and didn't quite meet them.

I haven't seen the Black Swan yet. I need to watch it. LOVED the way you enhanced the video. LOL Oh no! Gore! Great!
I LOVED Black Swan. It was so freaky but so good. One of the best psychological thrillers I've ever seen. I cannot even imagine how awkward that would have been to watch with my brother. Haha. XD Other than that I've only seen Inception and The Social Network. Both of which I also really liked.

Hi!--Will have to watch the video later, when I have more time, but I just have to throw out my LOVE of True Grit. I swear it radiated AMAZINGNESS in a way I've never felt before--It took Black Swan and King's speech forever to come to our theater, but they look really good. The Fighter I could go either way on. But True Grit was SO frackin' fantastic!!!! I would have seen it a million more times if I could!!!
Like Missie, I went with my mom to see this one too - it was just as awkward as the time I went to see a very awkward movie with my brother (I really need to start looking up the details of movies before I agree to watch them with family members - it's just way too weird). But the movie was just so out there and amazing, I still don't even get what was real.

Great picks! All but best picture, you guys are good! I was hoping for Social Network, because, it was so different from the other offering, True Grit should have won a few and Inception should have won more than it did.

Loved the vlog review for Balck Swan and King's Speech (although I don't plan on watching either. Not my kind of movies).
I've only seen Inception, which is now one of my favorite movies. ^_^
