Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine to spotlight upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating.

 Spy Glass (Glass 3)
by Maria V Snyder
pub: Sept 1, 2010

An undercover mission leads to danger, adventure and an impossible choice. After siphoning her own blood magic in the showdown at Hubal, Opal Cowan has lost her powers. She can no longer create glass magic. More, she's immune to the effects of magic.

Opal is now an outsider looking in, spying through the glass on those with the powers she once had, powers that make a difference in the world. Until spying through the glass becomes her new power. Suddenly, the beautiful pieces she makes flash in the presence of magic. And then she discovers that someone has stolen some of her blood - and that finding it might let her regain her powers. Or know it could be they are lost forever.

Mark said he heard the dark song when he creeped houses. The song the predator's heart sings when it hears the heart of the prey. I heard it now. Mark said it had always been in me. Lurking. Waiting for me to hear.
Ames is not the person she was a few months ago. Her father lost his job, and her family is crumbling apart. Now, all she has is Marc. Marc, who loves her more than anything. Marc, who owns a gun collection. And he'll stop at nothing--even using his guns--to get what he wants. Ames feels her parents have betrayed her with their lies and self-absorption, but is she prepared to make the ultimate betrayal against them?

(Thanks to Kate @ The Neverending Shelf  for mentioning this one!)

One December night, 14-year-old Alex goes to bed. He wakes up to find himself in the wrong bedroom, in an unfamiliar house, in a different part of the country, and it's the middle of June. Six months have disappeared overnight. The family at the breakfast table are total strangers. And when he looks in the mirror, another boy's face stares back at him. A boy named Flip. Unless Alex finds out what's happened and how to get back to his own life, he may be trapped forever inside a body that belongs to someone else.

I AM NUMBER FOUR
by Pittacus Lore
Aug 3/Harper Teen

Nine of us came here. We look like you. We talk like you. We live among you. But we are not you. We can do things you dream of doing. We have powers you dream of having. We are stronger and faster than anything you have ever seen. We are the superheroes you worship in movies and comic books—but we are real.

Our plan was to grow, and train, and become strong, and become one, and fight them. But they found us and started hunting us first. Now all of us are running. Spending our lives in shadows, in places where no one would look, blending in. we have lived among you without you knowing.

But they know.

They caught Number One in Malaysia.
Number Two in England.
And Number Three in Kenya.
They killed them all.

I am Number Four.

I am next.

We're really looking forward to I AM NUMBER Four in book form (August) AND the movie coming out Feb 2011 with Alex Pettyfer (Beastly) - Alyssa says "He's so HOT" - , Dianna Argon (Glee) - Jake and Gregory say, "She's smokin'! - and Timothy Olyphant (Justified) - Honestly, we all love him (Jake and Gregory in a non-romantic sense) - if you haven't seen Justified on FX you need to. Anyway the book and movie look awesome!

What are you waiting for?

I've read an ARC if I am number four :) I thought it was pretty cool, I think it will make a pretty spectacular movie though :)

Mainly, for reasons of hotness, plus cool special effects :)

All of these books sound really good. I'm yet to get into the Glass series of Maria V. Snyder but have read the Poison Study series and it was awesome.

Great picks for this week.

I fancast Alex Pettyfer as every blond male character in books (especially Jace in TMI) so I'm glad to see him in this!

These all sound neat and I love the first three covers. The only books I'm really looking forward to are Wicked Appetite by Janet Evanovich and Counterfeit Magic by Kelley Armstrong.

I've been on the fence about the Glass series of Maria V. Snyder. Have you read the others? What did you think?
