Beastly Trivia and Alex Pettyfer Eye Candy

We watched Stormbreaker not too long ago which was based on the first book in the Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz. We didn't expect a whole lot but actually found it to be a fun film.

The star, Alex Pettyfer, did a good job and was so cute that I decided to look him up. He'd be a bit older now and I wondered how he aged.

The answer is very well.

So well in fact that he is the gorgeous hunk that is going to be turned into a beast for another upcoming book-to-movie,
Beastly, due to release July 30.

Quite the transformation but yes that's Alex!

I haven't read the book it's the (duh) modern day telling of Beauty and the Beast.

I am a beast.

A beast. Not quite wolf or bear, gorilla or dog but a horrible new creature who walks upright—a creature with fangs and claws and hair springing from every pore. I am a monster.

You think I'm talking fairy tales? No way. The place is New York City. The time is now. It's no deformity, no disease. And I'll stay this way forever—ruined—unless I can break the spell.

Yes, the spell, the one the witch in my English class cast on me. Why did she turn me into a beast who hides by day and prowls by night? I'll tell you. I'll tell you how I used to be Kyle Kingsbury, the guy you wished you were, with money, perfect looks, and the perfect life. And then, I'll tell you how I became perfectly . . . beastly.

So that's my bit of trivia and eye candy. Check out the movie trailer below.

Did you read the book? What did you think?

Will you be seeing the movie?

I was iffy about the movie before but since I'm a new Alex fan, I'm sure I'll be checking it out. Now the only question is...

Should I read the book before I see the film?

Ohmygod, they definitely managed to transform him into a beast. WOW! I've got to read this before the movie comes out.

I haven't read this book either but my friends who've read it have said that he looks different as a beast than he does in the trailer but i think he's scary enough for a beast!

Thanks for the trailer-- will most likely be checking the movie out- I did read the book too.

Got to love Alex. He is the guy that a bunch of people decided should play Jace in the Mortal Instruments books.

Oooh I am going to read this book soon. I have a friend that is going to lend it to me. Looks so good! And Alex is GORGEOUS. I always pictured Jace like that in the Moral Instruments books.

I hate seeing the movie first. I like knowing the book and seeing what they've done with it. It's so hard to cram all the important stuff in - I like to check out the choices they make. :)

The pros :)
I read it and loved it.
I can't wait for the movie.
The actor is a total hottie.

The cons :(
He's not as ugly as he was in the book.
In the book he's all hairy like an actual beast.
What's with the tats/veins thingy?
They changed the story (which I know is sorta necessary) but the book was SO good. More fairy tale like.

Here is my review :)

Thanks for posting the video!
Despite my gripes, I can't wait to see it.

:)

Oh I forgot...my advice:
See the movie first.
Then you'll be pleasantly surprised by the book.

I just read the book and loved it and while there are definitely obvious differences, I am SO going to see the movie!

I don't think it ever really hurts to read the book first... at least then you'll be familiar with the story. But with any book turned into a movie, you have to keep in mind that the book is the author's baby.. and the movie is the director's baby. It's ok if they're a bit different.

I remember hearing about this book but I haven't read it though. But it sounds really cool. And Alex is indeed quite the looker. And ramdon side info, but in the Mortal Instruments fandom a lot of people think of him as Jace. Who knew he'd particpate in other book turned movie again with Beastly.

I read the book and I loved it.
It's great.
In my case I prefere to read the book
first than seeing the movie.
Like some people said, in the book
the beast looks different, wich I don't like too much the change.
But I'm so watching the movie ... Alex Petifyer is sooo sexy!!!

I didn't realize this was being made into a movie. Huh. I've heard good things and bad things about the book, but I will likely read it, if only for a movie comparison.

I am aware of Beastly being made into a movie and though I admit not being a big fan of Vanessa Hudgens,I honestly want to check out the movie (for Alex) :)

Monster of Books said...

I most certainly want to see the movie. Counting down the days. I have read the book , and the movie seems different and the characters are different but I guess that ok. Sort of.

Hesperus (Haya) said...

I wonder why the tattoos on his eyebrows have arabic letters or did they just think it's pretty that way? lol.

Obviously I want to see this for Alex ... Not a fan of Vanessa though. Sigh. :/

I haven't read the book so can't really make a comment on that. But based on the thriller, I don't dig the movie... I don't know... maybe because of how they crafted the Beast? So surreal, I can't connect. The Beast is suppose to be ugly, right? I presume that is the premise anyway. Well, the way they crafted it in the movie, the Beast is not ugly. He's strange. Weird. Surreal. But not ugly per sey. I think the art department there missed the point by a mile.

Thanks for sharing it with us! I read Beastly and I really liked it. You should read the book before you watch the movie. I see similarities but I also see changes too. But damn Alex, total hottie! :)

Ooooh...Anthony is so....yum yum..!!

I'll watch the movie, sure and I'll read the book.

I haven't read the book, but the movie trailer was good, so I'll definitely going to watch the movie! :)

Read the book and <3-ed it! gushed over it for days. As for the movie, I was skeptical, but heck, now I'm excited!

Beastly sounds like a great book!

I really enjoyed this book. I'll admit, I only read it once I discovered Alex Pettyfer (as Jace in all the fan videos for The Mortal Instruments). I will definitely by seeing the movie!
I always recommend reading the book before seeing its movie adaptation.

I agree with everything Juju said. I'm a bit disappointed that he's not an actual beast...but it still looks pretty good! I can't wait to see it :)

Raspberry said...

Yeah, I was pretty thrilled when I found out it was being made into a movie - it looks like it's being faithful to the book plot, which is great. Loving the Mary-Kate role...

wow he grew up. Thats weird and I'm old. Sounds like a book I need to read before the movie. Great trailer.
