Synopsis:
Percy Jackson's seventh-grade year has been surprisingly quiet. Not a single monster has set foot on his New York prep-school campus. But when an innocent game of dodgeball among Percy and his classmates turns into a death match against an ugly gang of cannibal giants thing get....well ugly.
And the unexpected visit from his friend Annabeth brings more bad news: the magical border that protect Camp Half-Blood have been poisoned by a mysterious enemy, and unless the cure is found, the only safe place for demigods will be destroyed.
Riordan delivers another winner! Sea of Monsters is fun, exciting, and action packed. Perhaps not as awesome as the first one, but it's great - almost as good as The Lightning Thief,
It started out with a bang which is a gift Riordan has with his writing, slowed down slightly through the middle but picked up supersonic speed at the end. I enjoy all the characters. Even the villains become like family - the annoying black sheep of the family but they're nothing if not interesting. Everyone in the book is a blast - including Hades!
The mythology is inventive and Riordan's ability to mix it into a fantastical tale without being boring is brilliant. The vivid description never bogs the story down.
If you want fast, fun, creative and just plain awesome pick up The Sea of Monsters or any book in this series. You won't be sorry!
