Synopsis:
For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf--her wolf--is a chilling presence she can't seem to live without. Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human . . . until the cold makes him shift back again.

Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It's her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human--or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever.

Shiver
is a satisfying love story for paranormal groupies, especially Team Jacob fans looking for the werewolf to woo the girl.

Some might be put off by the point of view. Each chapter switches from first person Grace to first person Sam. But if you stick with it, the transistions become less jarring and awkward. The story blends heart-wrenching and romantic, and if my brother's hadn't been in the room, at times I would have shed a few tears.

The pace slows occasionally, but by that time I cared enough for the characters and their struggles to continue reading until it picked up.

Definitely more romance than action, which is usually not my preference, but Shiver still managed to keep my interest. Stiefvater keeps the love story more sweet romance than hot and sexy which makes it an option for younger readers or those who just don't care for the explicit stuff, and she puts a new and interesting twist on the werewolf lore. I vote for Shiver as a solid paranormal romance read and the ending doesn't disappoint.

The Cover: The spot of blood? The wolf watching from afar? So cool! Not only is it beautiful, but it absolutely captures the essence of the book! Kudos to the designer!

Linger is the next book in the series. Again, awesome cover! I can't wait for it to come out in 2010! Ugh, so long to wait!

And don't forget we have a copy of Shiver available in our MegaBook giveaway. So go to the contest post to enter. We're now up to 19 winners and will soon be announcing some great books to add. Good luck!

  5. I love the covers for this series. I do have Shiver, but it's waiting on my desk to be read. Darn TBR pile...hehehe. But I really do want to read this because my niece is a huge Jacob fan and I want to be able to recommend this to her (but I need to preview it for appropriateness).

    I'm loving your giveaway!!!

  20. Yes, the covers are beautiful! But you know what they say...Don't judge a book by its cover!

But I'm sure the story, in this case, is just as good as the book's cover.

  28. This cover is absolutely gorgeous. It was what first drew me to the book. I haven't had the chance to read it yet, but it's in my TBR pile. I have to say that I'm a little disappointed that it's a lot of love story/romance. I like a little more action in my books, but I'm still excited to read it.
